Welcome from Principal Norman
Welcome
to the McKenzie Pride website. There are many activities that occur at the
career center that most people are unaware. These activities include the
teaching of academic classes such as English, math and social studies. The
academic classes are CORE 40 approved and are the same classes that are taught
at the two high schools for meeting graduation requirements. Our "robotics"
team is starting its second year of competition. A meeting of interested parents
and students was held and over 82 people were present for the initial meeting of
the year. Competition will be later in the year at St. Louis, MO.
Two
new classes were added to the pre-engineering program, Principles of Engineering
and Civil Engineering and Architecture. The pre-engineering program is part of
the national Project Lead the Way program out of the Rochester Institute of
Technology.
The enrollment for the career center is up significantly
this year and there are few empty rooms to be found. With the increase in
enrollment, the hope is that we will be able to add additional technology labs
in the future to supplement our present curriculum and to provide additional
opportunities for technology classes. We hope you have a great year and if you
have any questions about the McKenzie Career Center, don't hesitate to get in
touch.

Vision The
staff of the McKenzie Career Center believes that students will complete career
programs at a mastery level, which will lead them to post secondary education or
a career choice in the current workplace. McKenzie Career Center will provide a
foundation for students desiring to explore non-vocational talents with an open
mind toward lifelong learning. Each student will strive for his/her personal
best in academics, civic consciousness, individual responsibility, and
interactive professional and personal skills.
